Paper trading

Practise trading stocks with no real money.

Stocka’s paper account gives you $1,000 of practice money to trade US stocks at market prices, with the same order types as a broker. Try an idea, see how it would have played out, and build a track record before you risk your own money.

$1,000 to start
The account opens with $1,000 of paper money, given once. To trade bigger, add a paper money pack of $1,000 to $50,000 in the App Store.
Real order types
Market, limit, stop, stop limit, trailing stop and midpoint orders, good for the day or until cancelled.
Fills at market prices
Orders fill against the market’s prices during the regular session. When one bar reaches both your stop and your target, the stop fills first, and commissions follow the fee plan you set.
Notified of every fill
A notification for each fill, expiry and rejection, including those that happened while the app was closed.
A track record against the S&P 500
Your paper account’s return since it started, next to the S&P 500’s, with every closed trade and your note on it.
Apart from your real book
Paper trades never enter your real portfolio. The paper account syncs through your own iCloud between your iPhone and iPad.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is paper trading real money?

No. Paper money has no value and cannot be withdrawn, and no paper order ever reaches a broker.

How much does paper trading cost?

Paper trading is part of Stocka Pro, a monthly or yearly subscription; the yearly plan starts with a one-week free trial. Paper money packs are optional in-app purchases.

Can I reset my paper account?

No. The $1,000 starting balance is given once, and the account cannot be reset. To trade with more, add a paper money pack.

Which stocks can I paper trade?

US-listed stocks and ETFs priced in US dollars. Listings priced in other currencies are refused.

What happens when the market is closed?

Orders fill against regular-session prices. An order placed while the market is closed waits for the next session, and a day order expires at that session’s close.
